Why lol?

Don't the people who say lol at everything jsut annoy you sooo much?

A classic example is this extract from a conversation i just had about how sixth form is going;
me; 21:16 biology chemistry and maths are quite hard but the geography's mainly what we did at gcse but with a few more posh words.

I guess instead of a few more posh words, you meant a few more advanced concepts....? Was this an AB LOL or somewhere else, if it was outside, perhaps they thought it was funny, the posh words bit does sound like you were making a joke of it.

I just can't do the whole lol, lmao, rofl, pmsl. I rarely laugh out loud, never roll on the floor, my ass is perfectly intact and if I were to pi$$ myself I certainly wouldn't announce it on the internet. I do often smile though, so I :)
