12A "Two charges brought by detective, given expression of support". The answer is "Dipole", which means two charges. DI = detective, ole = expression of support. How is the "P" in dipole clued?
Dip is not a detective, it's a pickpocket. There's nothing in Chambers to suggest P is equivalent to given.
I don't think "pole" is an expression of support, cos in that case the clue could just as well read "Two charges brought by detective, given support".
Any suggestions?
