What on earth is a GIF image?
2 Answers
As you fellow ABers know I am a frequent user of Dating websites, but have not yet found "The One". All of these recommend the use of a photo in your profile, but this is easier said than done. The picture must be of GIF type, and 10kb or less. Looking at the format of my photo is about 7.7mb and not of GIF type. Can any helpful ABers tell me how to convert piccies to this elusive GIF format?
Many thanks for any replies.

I'm surprised it wants GIF though. GIFs are good for images with lots of heavy blocks of colour, and less so for pictures (where JPEG is better).
To convert:
Open your image in an image editor. If you're on windows, try using Paint (I think it's in Start->Programs->Accessories). Open your image, and then click file->save as. Choose the GIF format, towards the bottom of the Save As dialog window.
