Always ready to support ethnic minorities, the Daily Mail today reports on the unbalance of Black students into Oxbridge collages, yesterday it was reporting Pizza World for presumed racial discrimination with it's customers.

/// The picture is slightly different when it comes to students from other backgrounds with 77 students of Indian descent accepted.///

Although no Black students were accepted 77 students of Indian decent were.

Why is this?

Not sure - I saw the article earlier today, and it didn't strike me at all that the Oxbridge colleges were being in any way racist. The article didn't expound on what the courses are.

The only way that the story could have merit as an example of racism is if a study were carried out that showed that applicants with 'black' names with the same qualifications as those with 'white' names were being rejected at a disproportionately higher rate across a number of courses.

And there's no evidence to support that.
Well Oxford and Cambridge is supposed to take the cream of society. The duds never make it!

But that would assume that all black students are duds - I'm sure that's not what you're trying to imply (sometimes nuances of languange can be lost on the net), because that would make you a tw*t.
SP never heard of the Bell Curve which shows the dfifference in White or Black Intelligence?

Yep...I've seen that report but fortunately I know it's a load of cobblers.

From Wikipedia:

"There are no universally accepted definitions of either race or intelligence in academia, and the discussion of their connection involves the results of multiple disciplines, including biology, anthropology, sociology, and psychology. Many factors that could potentially influence the development of intelligence have been advanced as possible causes of the racial IQ gaps. It is generally agreed that environmental and/or cultural factors affect individual IQ scores. There is currently no consensus whether or not genetics play a role in racial IQ gaps"
