John Lennon - 30 years since....
38 Answers
Today is the anniversary of JL's premature death, and as such, he should have a rememberance thread dedicated to him and all his fans from across the world
So any thoughts of him?
Where you were when you heard the sad news of his tragic shooting?
And did anyone get to see him live?
What is your favourite John Lennon tune or with the Beatles?
These two tunes were voted No1 and 2 on my local radio station as fans favourites.....hope you enjoy them and may his memory live on.
RIP, JL :0)
No.1 choice was 'Imagine'........sound on full version starts at about 30 seconds in....
and No. 2 was 'Woman'

I remember the date well as our son was christened on the same day. I wasn`t a Beatles fan but thought some of Johns` songs very emotional. I love Imagine and Woman. It sad for anyone of that age to die in such tragic circumstances ( for no reason ) My son, who is 30 of course, is in the spotlight a lot for his work and should anything like that happen to him with living in London, I would be devastated !!
RIP John
RIP John
1. I thought he was mediocre but charismatic and believed his own hype- didn't really appeal to me as an individual- Bono has always tried the same sh1t to much similar effect.
2. I was in prison when he died- the joke being that at least we had an alibi and they couldn't pin that one on us.
3. Never saw him live- not my sortt of music really.
4. Eleanor Rigby was awesome- nothing else ever really interested me of the Beatles or Lennon.
5. Don't like 'Imagine' or 'Woman' but thanks for posting them anyway.

I was at work when a guy I work with told me - funny, I remeinded him of it a few months ago. i went home, and criend when the news came on.
I was dj'ing at a local night club, and when 'Imagine' wne to No. 1, i refused to play it - i never played it when JL was alive, i thought it morbid to play it when he was dead, and it was not a suitable song for a disco anyway.
My fave is 'Twist And Shout' - such raw (literally!) excitement in that voice.
He was a flawed man who dealt as best he could the pressure of changing the world which he didn't ask to do, but did anyway.

Come back Yogi, I still love you xxx
He was a brilliant songwriter and with McCartney made the greatest songwriting team ever (in my opinion). They still hold the record as being the biggest band in history not to mention selling over 1 billion records.
I was 9 when the shooting happened so it didn't really have an impact on me at the time.
Unfortunately I didn't.
My favourtite tunes are Beatles songs - Strawberry Fields and Something.
