any recommendations for xmas meat??

well we have tried unflavoursome chicken, and those prepared meats with bacon etc on top which come in tiny portions in a tin try, bone free you slice, turkey I have been told is very dry?? Any one eaten one of those three meats in one? I think Aldi might do it?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.i'd avoid the aldi three bird roast although i know some people on here really like it. the herbs/spices used in the stuffing between the layers is not to my taste at all and permeates the whole thing, something like cinnamon or cloves i think.
and personally i wouldn't waste my money on goose either. expensive for not much meat, and in my experience what meat there is, isn't worth the money.
if you're not keen on turkey but love meat in general, then why not get a leg of lamb, a piece of pork, or rib of beef, meat on the bone is always succulent and tasty.
we're having a ready-basted asda own brand turkey this year, never had a dry one yet and at £20 for an extra large one pretty good value. even though it's ready basted it will still get covered with bacon strips and have a lemon inserted to keep it moist and tasty.

We've had Aldi's three in one twice and we liked it - the only drawback is you must let it rest before you carve it, as it all falls to bits otherwise, but it was very tasty. The first year you are right, they were very hard to get hold of, but there are loads in our local Aldi at the moment in the freezer cabinet.

I like a duck - always nice and juicy and enough for two with a wee bit left over for snacking/sandwiches - would not recommend one of the boneless/crown things with a duck - lots of unusable meat for some reason. With the duck being quite fatty under the skin, you get plenty of juices for your roast tatties.
Chicken shouldn't be flavouress anyway, just get a good quality free range organic one and it actually tastes of chicken - completely different texture of meat from that watery pulpy meat you get on a cheap chicken.
