Now, I ain't one for mindless inspections of my fingernails, but I realised the other day that they are covered with unsightly ridges. They are also a kind of deep red with a blueish tinge, although this may be down to Reynaud's I suppose. But what do the ridges mean pls?

I fond a site that has quite a bit of information on ridged nails ... but why not just ask your GP. The site is http://www.judithbennhurley.com/rxforridnail.html

Thank you for the site. After viewing, I have decided that it must be a deficiency of some kind, nothing to worry about really. My dad worried me by saying that he thought it indicated kidney problems, so I thought I would do a post. OH! I would never bother my GP with anything so trivial! Anyhow, I have far more severe health problems although they are well managed now thank god. Ta again!
I have always had ridges on my finger nails and thought nothing of it until an consultation with my G.P. for patches of dry skin on my arms, which he diagnosed as licenplanus and explained the ridges were a symptom of the condition
