Alan Pardew to be the next Newcastle Manager

Doesn't this selection by the Newcastle board show how out of touch this choice is? This manager has had more failures than I have hot dinners. What does he have going for him...I'm amazed?

As with many things in life, there comes a time when the fact that you have done something is more important than whether or not you are any good at it. For someone who was so inexperienced in top football management Chris Hughton did a fine job as Newcastle boss and was unjustly sacked. Trouble was he wasn't a big enough name to be in charge of such a sleeping giant (they last won a major trophy 41 years ago, which is an even bigger drought than that other sleeping giant Manchester City have suffered)

Mike Ashley wants a big name boss but is not willing to pay the kind of salary such managers command, so Newcastle end up turning to Alan Pardew (apparently a good friend of Newcastle's chairman), who's previous Premiership management experiences with West Ham and Charlton were hardly successful, and who's management highlight so far is winning the Johnstones Paint Trophy!

Appointing Pardew would be a step backwards by Newcastle
