Hi all you gardeners out there. I want to buy my Dad some seed for Christmas as a little stocking filler. I know little about gardens and gardening so I wondered if you could lend a hand. Can any of you recommend seed that you've done well with this year. I think he wants the usual Carrots, Cabbage, Beetroot, Lettuce (he likes little gem), but any of the standard veg you could recommend ... he doesn't do exotic, would be great. The other option is a catalogue with a gift certificate so that he can choose his own. My parents aren't online, so it would need to be one he could fill in and post. Thanks ever so everyone and a Happy Christmas to you all.

Chiltern Seeds in Cumbria. Good company and they send you a lovely entertaining catalogue describing the seeds in detail. No pictures but makes good reading to a gardener.
Yes, Chiltern Seeds are great. Their catalogue is far more informative than the major UK seed companies.
From experience, http://www.marshalls-seeds.co.uk/ ... and get your Dad some vouchers.

They'll send a seed catalogue, vouchers, a plain card, an envelope to send it all in ... the whole package
. . . and they also do gift vouchers ;-)
