To have returned from the Championship to the Premiership at the first time of asking is a huge achievement in itself, let alone having done it with 102 points and an unbeaten home record!
To have put 6 past Villa and 5 past the old rivals was wonderful to see, of course, but for me the real achievements were beating Arsenal at the Emirates so soon after losing badly to them at home, and holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw. Admittedly, we had a bad result away at Bolton, but something like that's always going to happen to any club in any given season.
Newcastle have one task, and only one task, to accomplish this season and that is to finish 17th or higher. I don't know anyone who thought we were in any danger of going down before Hughton's dismissal. Now, however, it's a different story and I would not be surprised if Ashley has relegated us for the second time...
