Is this light a touch operated light?

I am looking for a wall light with a built in switch as the light I am replacing does not have a wall switch. I looked in Argos and I only found one with a pull cord switch built in http://www.argos.co.u...l+lights|14418030.htm but I've also seen other lights with no pull cord for example http://www.argos.co.u...l+lights|14418030.htm I've noticed that on the product information of the second light fitting it mentions touch and dimmer but does that mean that this is a touch operated light? Or does the second light require a wall switch in which case I cannot use it.

I think you can assume on that fitting, Flobbers, that ........ no cord = no switch.
You could fit a conventional flush switch right below the light. Stainless steel/chrome/brass etc. .......... or maybe even a narrow "architrave" switch.

The first lamp with the pull-cord you mentioned is just that. The other one can be operated by a separate touch control, or a dimmer control. They will most likely be on the wall near where you enter the room. You just have to make sure that the bulbs/lamps you use are suitable for dimming if that's what you want.

Check DAR lighting. They have a few with toggle switch on a bulkhead mounting. They often take a small halogen.

This light is on a wall above a chair and fitting a proper switch just wouldn't look right. It looks like I'll just have to go with the brass one. If I look up on Homebase or B&Q are there any terms for lights with pull cords because on Argos when I typed that in it went to toilet flushers,

I use the wall lamp spots with small switch ON them.

The Carolina light from Argos does have a pull switch, I bought a couple last Friday.
