I know Afghanistan is landlocked, but demilitarising (ugh, dreadful word) the UK when there are operations happening isn't exactly a confidence booster.

And if I thought it would have been better posted in News, I would have.

News isn't the only place for a discussion like this, as you so rightly say.

I think the messages that the cut-backs are sending out are entirely the wrong ones when we are engaged in military conflicts.........I'm sure that there are less friendly forces taking real comfort from them.
