friend driving my car gatso'd
9 Answers
My friend was driving my car recently and was caught speeding by a gatso (59mph in a 60 zone) ...however his insurance does not cover him to drive my car nor does mine cover him to drive it. So my question is if i name him as the driver will the police check both our insurance to see if he was covered to drive the car?

So the police will not check insurance records , thats great news as my friend has admitted fault and is willing to take the points .. is this for sure because i dont want him getting more than 3 points and a fine?
delboy, i wonder how many coppers are reading this and can see how pointless it is to have people add comments to worry the person asking a question unnecessarly? i mean, PC plod reads an answer on answerbank when he gets home after a shift, sees someone say they let there friend drive uninsured when they believed they were insured and its a mistake they wont repeat but PC Plod actually thinks its worth getting the ISP's to trace an email address to find the person that posted this, then track the gatso fine to find the person that commited the speeding offence, and then proceed to collect the evidance to give himself a huge headache of paperwork for an offence that was a one off and caused no harm to anyone this time. Yeah Right!
regardless of the situation, it shows just how silly these cameras can be. BinLaden could drive past one, without insuarnce, with nailbombs and several kidnap victims in the boot, but be doing 1 mph below the limit and therefore never be seen. My Gran could be doing 1mph over and be fined.
I know others have mentioned it before, but cameras are a poor replacement for proper police and roper policing. Besides, if there were fewer roadworks, traffic jams, diversions, contraflows, bumps etc most people would not bother speeding on the flat bits to make up their lost time!
