my heater isn't working properly. If I call out home emergency service (I've paid extra on home insurance) through my home insurer, does it count as a claim on my home insurance.
If your insurer sent you two separate policy documents (as you'd get if you added breakdown cover or legal cover to a motoring policy) the answer is DEFINITELY "No".
If you've only got a single policy document, the answer is PROBABLY "No", but you'd have to read the policy to be sure.
i've looked at the policy. When making a claim on either building or contents, it doesn't refer to 'home emergency'. Does it mean it won't count as a claim?
If your policy document makes no reference whatsover to the 'home emergency' service then (given that you've paid for that service) it's probably the wrong document!
I'd be prepared to bet that, somewhere or other, you've got a completely separate policy document relating to the 'home emergency' service. In which case the first paragraph of my previous post applies.
