Vaginal mucus - when you are fertile it gets slippery rather than tacky.
Basal body temperature - for this you have to keep track of your temperature everyday, before you leave your bed in the morning. When it is slightly higher, you're more fertile.
Your cycle - if you have a 28 day cycle, you most likely ovulate on or around day 14, and you are most fertile for 6 days before this and a day or two after. If your cycle is longer or shorter than that, you probably ovulate 14 days before you expect your period.
The most accurate way involves buying the ovulation predictor kits at the pharmacy - but unless you have been trying unsuccessfully for a while (in which case - go see your doctor!) these are too expensive and not worth it!
