did you watch the sun awards last night sqad? i seem to recollect you having an interest in all things bomber command. a couple of old guys reunited after 40-odd years, very touching, and of course, bomber command being recognised for their heroic work.
well, she's quite right. you men are just like little boys, we have to remind you about everything.. but i'm sure she wouldn't swap you any more than i would swap 'ron' ;o)
really? i think you're having me on.
eth was my mum's name, and ron my dad's. people think it refers to a radio programme (which i've never heard, it was on years and years ago).
you're going to tell me next that mrs. sqad is eth.. :o)
that's the one jack, the glums. my mum and dad would sometimes talk to each other the way the glums did, although my mum was never known as eth, she used her middle name and hated 'ethel'.
we have an affiliation with yorkshire, my 3 nieces are all yorkshire lasses, in fact they're there this week-end visiting their father, from all corners of england and scotland.
well, ron, it'll be hard to forget your name now ;o)
There was a Bomber Command unit between Church Fenton and Tadcaster (in Grimsbury Park) I was stationed at C Fenton myself for a few years .. and went to the old mansion to look around over a w/e with a gf who worked/lived on the estate. This was around 83 or 84.
Most of the wartime stuff was still there all dusty. I retrieved (which I still have) the Ops Room door card, along with some model aircraft (used in/on the Ops table) and a load of papers, and some stuff from communication room. Amazing find. Sadly now converted into special housing. Incredible that the Spits were still at C Fenton along the road when all this stuff was being used.
