Surprise unemployment rise
24 Answers
It seems that unemployment is now up 35,000 after 6 months of falls.
Any ideas of why? Has there been a sudden loss of confidence by employers in the economy?

What does 35,000 unemployed cost the nation in benefit and lost tax income?

NewJudge accepting that all staff should be responsible for the quality of their work the QA manager role involves specialised knowledge that all staff cannot be responsible for - usually trained auditors with detailed knowledge of required accreditations (BSI ISO etc etc) and the ability to ensure the entire 'workforce/workplace' can meet those standards, also usually responsible for dealing with customer complaints and often includes Environment and H&S within their remit. I don't work in Quality but I do know that role is one that is required these days to meet legislation and not a waste of taxpayers money at all.

Yes, Prudie, I too know what Quality Assurance Managers do having worked in a large private organisation for most of my working life and having carried out that role for a few years when my company caught the "TQM Bug" (which it has thankfully now recovered from).
So I am in a good position to pass comment on what they do and I still maintain that they are an expensive luxury.
