After my husband died, as joint tenants I became sole owner. 2 years on I am in a relationship and the guy sold his home and moved in with me. Unfortunately he persuaded me to let him in on my deeds as joint tenant. I have had no money from him apart from everday living expenses which we share. I want to sever our relationship, but am not sure how to go on about reclaiming my deeds in entirety.

Quite easy. See a solicitor and sever the joint tenancy, becoming tenants-in-common. That way you are guaranteed at least half.

Thx Mike but as he's only been with me for 1 yr and the house was mine all paid for , I don't really want to give up half of what is all mine.
I suspect you may not be able to sever the joint tenancy without his agreement, but I'm not sure. I think you will have to get a solicitor to advise you on what can be done.
All I will say is...

Why the hell did you let somebody else onto your deeds as a joint tenant.

they now own half of your property.
Oh dear jerrythorp - see a solicitor - soon. I wouldn't let anyone be added to my deeds as I pay all the mortgage, it's my house. I hope you can sort it out to your advantage...
Unfortunately, when you put his name on the deeds, you voluntarily gave up sole ownership, and may not be able to recover it.
There is a good chance you'd be able to get it back but it's going to expensive. You'll have to go through litigation and that's not covered by legal aid.

See a solicitor asap...you obviously can prove you'd already paid for your house so hopefully you'll get a sympathetic judge.
