ITunes

My granddaughter religiously tells me never to touch her iTunes file she keeps on my computer. However, something I have done has made all the albums disappear and the playlist is completely empty. None of the ablums were downloaded from iTunes, they were all genuinely copied from her own cd’s. I’ve tried everything to get them back but it appears iTunes only want me to log on to their store. Please can any ABer help?

The iTunes file is still appearing completely empty with none of the albums in it but I am now finding the actual music as you both said on the hard drive. I don't think my granddaughter will be very pleased with me but I'll let her set it up again herself.
I keep my own music separately on Windows media player which I think is safer. Incidentally, she has also downloaded nearly 1.5gb of her photographs on my pc but I have copied these safely onto an external hard drive. Many thanks.

Hi Milvus, you were right. I did what you suggested and 9 tracks did appear out of the many....... and played. I’m not very familiar with iTunes and such. However, 5 of the 9 tracks had an explanation mark alongside and I don’t know why? Each one with the explanation mark came the message: “The song (such & such) could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?”
I'm not sure that I have found all the tracks on the hard drive but I'm now trying to find the particular 5 songs in question. Soooooo I’ll go on trying. Many thanks for everyone's help.
