Why have manufacturers of painkillers started re-packaging their products to target specific pain i.e. Tension Headache, Joint Pain, Migraine Headache.. when the tablet still only contains Ibuprofen? I just dont understand why ??

Need I say more?
Because people with a headache are more likely to buy something that says headache than just general pain relief.
Marketing.
To get silly people to buy what they think are targetted products............?
I disagree, some headache tablets aimed at migraine have different ingredients than those aimed at back pain (anti -infammatories)

But Cazz look at Nurofen Migraine Relief tablets all they contain is Ibuprofen?
It's a sales ploy, plain and simple.
person goes to chemist...buys ibuprofen marketed as headache relief....next month hurts back...buys a different packet same drug....although to be fair the ones for tension headache have a second ingredient which makes some people bit dozy so relieving the tension, and some have additional caffeine or decongestants
I havent looked at all of them ice, I was pointing out that not all branded pain relief is merely ibuprofen.

I tend to buy paracetamol or ibuprofen as needs must. I would imagine a product like "nurofen migraine relief" is more eyecatching and would sell well rather than "ibuprofen" with no specific ailment targetted :)
aren´t non-prescriptive drugs the biggest money making scam going at present?

Yes must be a sales ploy ! MUCH cheaper just to buy a large pack of basic Nurofen* (or any other brand).
Seems reasonable to me:
Ibuprofen.....is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory and hence may help in
a) Tension Headaches.
b) Joint pain
c) Migraine.
i've worked in retail pharmacy for years and i've noticed how companies do this. they have say a panadol product that doesn't sell so they give it zingier packaging and a new name and usually a big ad campaign and before you know it you have lots of people in asking for it by name purely on the back of the advert regardless that it's just another paracetamol/aspirin/ibuprofen product like tonnes of others.i now take advertising with a big pinch of salt!!
