Many of my friends can get different symbols on their laptops by holding down the ALT key and typing in various numbers e.g. Alt + 16 does a small arrow shape, and another number (can't remember which one) gives a musical note. I cannot do this on my Toshiba computer and wonder if there is any way that I would be able to.Thanks. Janet

Look on the keys i,o,p,j,k and l and they will have extra numbers on them, these combined with the main 7,8 and 9 become a virtual number pad if you hold down the FN key, so hold down FN + CTRL and use those numbers.
