I am consodering buying a new laptop, but can't face the trauma of the man in PC World going through the options, speaking no doubt in nothing but abbrieviations!! So ...... just a simple home laptop, nice and quick, with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, wireless access, decent photo software, easy to use when pluggin in camera, blackberry etc ....... and with built in antivirus and is not painful to update in future....... so..... what would your choice be? (Upto say, £400/£450)

That's great Jaydah Thank you Which type would you chose? Need some guidance really ...... any idea what might be a good option?
Depending on how competent you feel about doing a lot of the set-up yourself, Aldi often have some good deals in store. A colleague and I have both bought various computer bits from them in the past and have found them to be good quality at very reasonable prices.

You're right to want to stay away from PC World. One of our better, more knowledgable IT blokes at work tells me he used to work there and that most of the staff know diddly squat about what they're selling. All they're interested in is making sales.
Agreed re PC World. Within the IT industry, they have a dreadful reputation...
