Please can you help?
What is the highest winning margin in a Ryder cup singles game?
Could it be 10-and-8? (although I don't understand what this means!)

It has happened at club golf. In the Ryder Cup the worst loss or best win over 18 holes (as the format changed to 18 fromn 36 holes) has been 8 and 7 - i.e. 8 holes up with only 7 to play. This has happened twice, Tom Kite beat Howard Clark; and in 1987, Fred Couples defeated Ian Woosnam.
In foursomes, a head to head with two balls and four players where one player from the team hits and then his mate hits the next shot the record is 7-and-6. Two matches have been settled by that score: Hale Irwin and Tom Kite beat Ken Brown and Des Smyth in 1979; and Paul Azinger and, in 1991, Mark O'Meara beat Nick Faldo and David Gilford .
