webcam software

anyone able to help me please?

i got a new webcam for crimbo - a microsoft lifecam hd-5000/hd-50001

but my laptop isnt reading cds, so i cant install the lifecam 3.0 software from the cd.

i tried to download the software online from the microsoft website.
but after what seemed an age (30ish mins) of going through the process of downloading the files (said itd take a few minutes) i stopped it as i thought there must be a problem.

i attempted to start it again from the beginning, but the download process now stops after a couple of seconds, saying there is an error, so i cant continue.

ive tried googling for another site that i could use to get the software but have had no luck.

can anyone point me in the right direction please?
