7/24''?
0.335"

i think its 2/48 = 0.042" lift over 2 inches

double it as its tapered both sides

0.25 +0.085 = 0.335"
Taper ratio isn't doubled because it's double sided. The diameter increases by 1'' in every 48'' length.

In 1 inch, the diameter increases by 1/48''
In 2 inches it increases by 1/24'' (2/48'')

The starting diameter is 6/24'' (1/4'')

Adding the 1/24'' increase makes the diameter 7/24'' at the big end.
you need to add the 1/24" TWICE to the length of the narrow end, since the taper goes away on both sides, so the wide end is 2/24+6/24(1/4)=8/24=1/3"
My argument is the same as Red's, but she made the mistake of approximating to 2/48=1/12 by changing it to a decimal, instead of working with fractions right to the end.
You should stay with fractions to the end and then, if necessary, make an approximation by converting to a decimal. If you do it part way through you risk making the error even worse.
If taper ratio refers to the change in diameter in relation to the change in length, Naz had it in one.
We need the original poster to give us the definition of taper ratio. It could even be with reference to the areas which would give a different answer again.
It's a pin ... I assumed it to be round.
