Chemistry key word - electron configuration
I know how to do this certain thing in chemistry, and have even done a past exam question on it, but can't remember what the terminology is that describes it and I can't find that past exam in my folder.
It's when you're asked to write out the electron configuration of an atom or ion, in a specific way.
For example; Lithium is 1s2, 2s2 and Boron is 1s2, 2s2, 2p1 but a Boron 1+ ion would be 1s2, 2s2.
Any ideas?
