Is a band still the same band when all the original members have left? Can you name any bands who now have no original founder members?

There were a couple of album releases in 2000...how about Renaissance?

The first question is a matter of opinion, not fact. They will often still have the right to use the band's name and to sing the band's hits, but you'll often find that most of the fans will claim that it's a different band once original members have left. Actually, some die-hard fans will claim if's a different band even if just one member leaves... if it's a member they like! It can often be a problem, as a number of 60s and 70s bands are touring with just one original member (often a drummer, or someone else who the less major fans won't remember), or even none. I can't actually think of any off the top of my head... but I do remember there was a "Weekend Watchdog" special on the subject on BBC1 about a year ago...

Jimmy Page put it best with the death of John Bonham.

"A quarter of Led Zep is gone and there is no thoughts of continuing". A experienced it myself when i saw The Wailers, B Marleys old band and there was only one member who had played with Bob.

Otherwise a band can be a band after deaths, split-ups and so on, most important members are voften singers and leadguitarist. And bands without frontfigures. It can often be patetich when old bands reunite and so on.

The beach Boys has done tours recently with no original members. Elvis on a big screen, Lynard Skynard, Allman Brothers band with no Allman brother, Thin Lizzy
