My friend is dating a guy who is 16 years younger than her, she is 72 and he is 56. He looks older than he is and she looks younger than she is. If you google such relationship, most comments are positive. Are than Abers who have comments or experience? I wonder if it would work out for them. They seem very happy.

I think that the older you are, the less obvious/important is a large age gap - 16 years in your 20's or 30's is perhaps "iffy" but in your 50's, 60's and 70's much less so. After all, there only numbers!
.....they're only numbers, that is!
Live and let live...
if it works for them, great
you don't need to analyse your friend's relationship, if they're happy that's good enough.
Lucky her! And him!
beds take all ages
Would your Dad date me ummmm???

Funny old world and nothing surprises me about the human race, but I just have two points to make.

1) We have friends/acquaintances the male 66years of age and he is married to a Chinese girl of 44 years of age. She is as "bright as a button" and a "Western type" sense of humour (whatever that is ;-)) and he is a well educated and retired business man and they have a 10 year old son, who tends to be, to me, rather precocious.
From what one can judge as an outsider, they are happily married.

2) Pension Plans....if there is a large age gap between the couple, the retired partner will almost certainly not get an annuity that covers the younger partner and she may well have to look elsewhere for financial support on the elder partner´s death.
Hard to say Jem. He was always in a settled relationship. But this is someone else that nohorn is asking about...so with that in mind, if he did date you...I wouldn't mind as long as he were happy :-)
Interesting point Sqad. -- but aren't we talking about him being younger than she?

"She" can have Pension Plans as well as "HIM" and the same rules apply.

You are correct.....;-)
Well said ummmm, I was just teasing you. I've been in a stable relationship for over
51 years. (til death do us part) as they say.

And my Dad's dead anyway...
Go for it, I say - my husband is 14 years younger than I am and we've been together over ten years. As long as they are both happy with it, at the ages they are it should be no problem at all. Good luck to them!

Thanks everyone for doing some analysis, I was surprised there were no negative replys. Insight is always good!
Happiness is always paramount. Even if it doesn't work out hopefully your friend has happy memories to look back on :-)
