Has the cold weather payment for people on benefits been stopped?

If the temperature was below a certain level for a week people used to get an extra payment. Has it been scrapped?

No, it's still £25 a week for those on certain benefits.

Not for me. I was thinking my sister, a pensioner, should have heard something about it. I'll phone the pension people next week.

I don't think you automatically get it for being on a pension. I think its benefits.

My mother is 88yrs and has had 3 payments with her pension - she received a letter today dated 24th Dec to say she would be receiving it!

That's pretty good yelenots - I had a letter three weeks after I'd received my winter fuel payment, to tell me to look out for it!

Not all pensioners get it. You have to be in receipt of pension credit, the majority of pensioners are not.

No. I don't get pension credit, just a state pension and I don't get it. I suppose it would be automatic if you were in receipt of the correct benefit.
