I have just purchased a second hand laptop where everything had been removed, it is running Win.XP with internet explorer (8) can anyone please recommend a free spell checker that I can access via an icon on my top toolbar. Happy 2011 to all ABers.

Thanks for the info carlton23 I assume that it comes with a spell check so will give it a go now.
You`ll find it next to AutoFill.
I've used the following for years which I find very good.

Pretty much all the other browsers have a spellchecker built in as standard and almost all are better than IE as a browser to start with.

I'd suggest Firefox, you'll need to install the British English dictionary (otherwise it will underline words like colour and tyre and insist they are color and tire) but it's better than the google toolbars spellchecker as it checks as you type rather than having to click a button
