baxi boiler and water supply turned off

My central heating is by a back boiler behind the fire.If the outside water is turned off can I still fire up the boiler.
Yes you have guessed it ...sudden extra cold snap problems.

........... don't worry ....... the boiler isn't fed directly from the mains.
You'll be ok for ages :o)
As Builder says, it'll be OK for a while, but don't allow your cold water tank to empty by drawing off too much water. It's possible for an overheated empty back-boiler to transfer enough heat to hidden pipework so as to create a fire risk. There's a Northern Ireland Government website that gives advice on their present water supply problems, and it advises not using a backboiler if there's no mains water. UK HSE advice is similar.

I will play safe and not fire up until the leak is found and sorted.Can dry out later.
