We've got 2 dead lap tops. What I need to know is there any way to fit the memory into PC motherboard. DDR2 SD RAM. Configs, clock speeds, voltages etc are compatable. I just need to know about any adaptors needed for the module.
It's possible, and there are adaptors, however they tend to be marketed towards professionals that have memory testers for desktop DIMMs and want to test laptop SODIMs and as such are probably more expensive than simply buying the RAM for your desktop.
If somebody does come along with a link to a consumer orientated adapter at a price that makes it worthwhile then also consider if it will fit in the case without problems, as you'll basically end up with double height RAM chips.
Thanks Chuck. We'll see what we can find. It's more an experiment than anything because it seems a waste not to use the memory. Space is not a problem as it is going into a full size tower.
I appreciate the trying to re-use what you have kicking about idea, but in this instance I'm sure selling the laptop RAM on ebay and buying new RAM for the desktop would be more economical than buying adaptors.
