What is the meaning of "the usual", "picked on the wrong guy" in the following sentences?

 

He went to a bar, got drunk, got in a fight, the usual. Looks like he picked on the wrong guy, now he's getting his face stitched up.

The usual:  he's done this before, gone to a bar or pub, had too much to drink, and then got into a fight.

Picked on the wrong guy:  The guy had some false courage since he was drunk.  He picked a fight with someone who was a lot bigger than him, someone he had no hope of defeating in a fist fight.  Someone he should've just left alone.

wrong guy -he picked on someone who beat him up! that's pretty the wrong choice !

the usual.....the usual state of affairs or

the usual course of events.

Both phrases have been omitted or are 'understood' and there is a grammatical term for this....
