Red Ring of Death

Not quite sure where to post this. Overheard in the paper shop this morning....."my son got the red ring of death over the weekend and he's inconsolable" What on earth does this mean? Is it contagious? Should I be worried?

I have sympathy for the poor lad. I once too had the red ring of death. My controller keeps turning itself off too. Think the battery holder has a bad connection. bloomin xbox was brand new at Christmas too :-(

pinki, back in the 50's, when the TV was turned off, a large white spot appeared in the centre of the screen. It then very slowly diminished until the screen was completely black.
In effect, the screen was dead.

my first wii fit board died......no one seemed able to repair it.... had to replace it...missed being a penguin
