I am above rising to some of the personal attacks. I am far more aware of the CJ system than some people on here realise, hence this thread is posted with a deal of personal experience of what that system encompasses.
The whole point of the thread is to highlight the anomaly and irony of having people, some of them convicted of violent offences, being privvy to amenities which most of the law abiding public may not be able to afford, i.e. gym membership, membership of snooker clubs etc etc.
That, compounded with the undoubted likelihood of the same law abiding public, i.e. taxpayers, who have not only contributed to such luxuries in the first place, but will also be faced with the massive repair bill for the wanton damage done by the scum in that "holiday camp" of a prison, is very hard to bear.
Many people do not realise how "difficult" it is, no irony intended, to be given a custodial sentence. They are usually reserved for the more serious offenders. Prison ought not to be a recreational facility. They are there to be punished, not pampered.
