What a day !

Scenario this morning-Police and Medics back and forwards past my window and through my garden.Eventually looked out front door -Polce Van and Ambulance -determined neighbour had had a fall and she didnt have a key holder.I tried to give them all the info I could (no family nearby and I help her out).Daughter offerred to climb in window -none opened so we went back into house.Joiner called.
Remebered that my car was hard up against Ambulance and was thick with ice so thought i'd better de-ice for their quick getaway .Duly fired up car in front of aforementioned personnel.
Went back to car to move it with daughter (again so I wasnt in ther way) and young Policeman approaches as im getting in the car
Him -Is this your vehicle madam?
Me -well erm yeah?
Him -just so you know its an offence to leave your vehicle idling and i could issue you with a £30 on the spot fine.
Me -Ha ha -aw right then
Him -Im not being arsey
Me -Much
Daughter -Shut it Mum
Him -Just trying to help
Me -and so was I -i'll bear this in mind -although there wont be a next time as I never do it as a rule -thought it would safe with you guys here
During 3 point turn notice joiners van is idling. -fight with daughter to get passengers window down -just to let them know that joiner had left his lights on (he hadnt) and his battery might go flat -thanked by older policeman.
What a little pr!ck and people wonder why theres no respect for the law!!
I fully expect well he was within his rights but come on......priorities and all that .Well thats my card marked.

He didnt make mine so he succeeded in his objective.

Many years ago when my ex was learning to drive she had the reversing light on (was a pull switch in those days). An officious copper pulled us over and gave a stern lecture about how she was liable for a ticket for driving forward with the reverse light on and I was also liable for something as I was the full license holder. I gently questioned why his engine was still running yet he was out of his car and what penalty that was. I thought the bu99er was going to explode.

Thats what i dont get -they watched me coming out and firing up the car -it was obvious why i was doing it -the road was blocked as the ambulance was at an angle and no way would they have been able to open the doors-yet he had to be a pudding.
Its this power they have over you -even when my daughter had to say shut it cos they could bang you up for nothing.
She has the best way of dealing -she just calls them Constables but with the emphasis slightly shifted at the start of the term and they cant do a thing about it -just your accent isnt it?

A long time ago driving along minding my own business, was pulled to the side of the road by police. They said did I know my son should be in a seatbelt and then policeman realised my son was but he could not see it. Started waffling about my old car instead.
I asked for his name and number. He said 'Why!' I said 'rear light not working, brake light not working'
He then pretended his radio called him and rushed off. My son reminds me of this quite often and we have a chuckle.

On another occasion whilst sitting in heavy traffic, looked out of my cab and down at a police car and noticed their roadtax was out of date by about a week. Opened cab window and told them, watched by bystanders. Policemen get red faces and zoom off round the corner to their local 'nick.

SA -exact same happened to me -they followed me into a garden centre and came up and said same -offence not to have your child strapped in until he noticed he was.Then gave me the damage limitation lecture about how imperitive it was to have them strapped in -I just continued as i was and left him mumbling to himself.
It almost verges on bleeding harrassment by some of them.
This isnt a bobby bashing thread (ooerr -sqad would be here if it was lol) but just to show thats some dont have the sense they were born with.
