Howls Like He's in 'Heat'..........

Caspar is neutered....and quite deaf. He's always been a noisy little sod (as he can't hear himself)....but sometimes he starts howling like a horny male cat...and it's driving me mad.
Any ideas to stop me from gagging him?

Either get him little hearing aids so that he can hear himself or try strangling him until you injure his vocal cords. ;-)

I suppose it is a bit like a deaf person shouting - and there is no solution to that. Good luck - rather you than me. ;-)

have you had him to the vets pasta, to see what the physical reason might be, that might determine if there is anything that can be doe, barring ear plugs for you

Rosetta...he's pretty much always been like this. Sometimes worse than others.
I was told that it is because he is deaf...and I suppose becomes disoriented.
We are going through one of the bad periods... :-(

Buddy does that as well Pasta -always when he's sitting on the fence between me and my neighbour.Its a bizarre sound but now youve posted ive realised its his mating call for Rosie next door.Shame he's neutered lol

phew....at least I'm not the only sufferer.
I've wondered if Caspar has residual 'bits'.............and he seems to do it after eating,and on his way to the litter tray......

Deaf cats are more visually active and more sensitive to movement and vibrations and tend to howl more throughout the night due to no movement in the house. But the problem that you are having with Casper is the howling between having a meal and walking to the litter tray, i would get him checked out at the vets.
