My sons Driving Licence is due to expire at the end of this month, but he is living and working in America. Does he need to put his UK address as his permanent residential address, or the one in the UK? Also, the photo booths over there dont take the same size photo, so I am assuming, when he sends me the photo, I will be ok to cut it down?

does he have a recent passport? IIRC the government gareway has a thing now where you can use the registered passport photo if you applied online, to renew your driving licence.
Not sure if this helps...it looks like you need to be resident in theUK

Thanks woofgang, that link seems to be if you want to apply for a photo driving licence if you only have a paper one. His passport expires next year.
Driving licences dont expire till you are aged 70 in the UK,why is your sons due to expire unless he is 70,then I think you have to get a medical.

Razza, you have to replace photocard driving licences every 10 years.

You dont have to have a medical at 70, as my father is nearly 80, and his was just renewed without question.
agree every 10yrs, i just renewed mine and im 32.
Yes I have just had a look,my older licences expiry date was 2015 when I will be 70,but the photo one has a 10 year term.Apologies for misleading
