I hate shopping
57 Answers
are there any other middle aged women out there who hate shopping for clothes ? I used to love shopping but now I'm just not interested, whether its the sales or not. I am not particularly overweight, so its not that, I have plenty in the wardrobe which I don't even wear, let alone buying more. Its not a money thing either. I just have no interest - and even if I do have a good shopping day, I can never find anything I like (either too young or too mumsy) and I just find myself getting annoyed and disinterested, and wanting to just go home and not buy anything. I am more interested at looking for things for the home, like vases and cushions and things like that. Is it just me ? Am I the only grumpy old woman out there ?

Well you lot have all given me a good laugh, and I agree with all of you. I have one pair of black shoes and brown shoes for daytime (Fitflop trainer type, silver and black) and two pairs of Fitflop sandals (silver and brown), and haven't gotten round to buying some comfy eveningy shoes to wear with trousers yet (why does everything have to be so HIGH??) it gives me a backache to look at them in the shop windows. If they have a low heel they are just too mumsy. I feel much better now and glad I'm not alone !
I did some shopping today...and was chuffed to find a book I wanted on sale in WHSmiths for less than Amazon. THAT makes me happy, whereas clothes shopping is torture.Oh-I can find things I like...but they will either be way too expensive,or so not suited to me or my lifestyle.
No-I too am happier looking at vases and cushions, things for the kitchen...and most of all-books.These are all things that just might last in my affections, but clothes I buy today will make me feel ill when I look at them a year from now.

well im under 30, i also hate cothes shoping espically when its really busy, i tend to avoid that situation. i will only clothes shop when i need it, ie work clothes, or wen im in a strange mood i would buy a pair off designer jeans that are in the sales.
most of the time i spend most of my money on moisturisers, body cream, shower gel, shampoo etc (soap and glory)- i bought almost 12 mnths worth of it from boots as its been in the sales. i guess i wont b shopping for them for the rest of the year! :-D

i used to love browsing with my sister, we were very compatible shopping companions. since she died all the pleasure has gone out of it and i really don't like it at all now, nor do i ever buy clothes on-line or from catalogues as their sizings and my shape are completely unmatched. as for buying clothes to please your other half - well, that's never happened in this relationship!!! most men have appaling taste in womens clothes anyway, either too tarty or too staid. same with my hair, i have it very, very short and cropped and he would like me to grow it.
i don't even like shopping for 'things' these days, much prefer to go out for a lovely long walk or lunch. and my shoes of choice are my walking trainers and thick socks.

I'm 42 and also detest shopping for anything.I do it all online, food, clothes, shoes and house stuff. I can't remember the last time I went proper shopping apart from to buy a paper or loaf of bread! I don't have issues with myself,I just hate all the people everywhere. Happiest when out walking with my lab in my scruffs!
Have you seen the 'massive' plus-sized models that some of the stores and catalogues are using these days. I saw one the other day who must have been a size 12, they wer patting themselves on the back for using such a HUGE lady.
I was a size 12 once - fleetingly - on my way up to wherever I am now!

I hate shopping for clothes, shoes, handbags and make-up. In fact I can't remember the last time I bought make-up. My handbag is about 2 years old and I usually buy a pair of boots which I wear for several months before needing a new pair when the soles wear away. I get my clothes from Tesco or any other supermarket that does them. F&F and George are pretty good.
The only indulgence I do have is food so I quite often buy the more pricier range.
