Can you recharge a battery by using a battery charger and would the solar light last longer?

Yes and no. You can recharge them in a battery charger but the light will not last any longer. And those batteries need to be replaced every few years.

I tried recharging one of mine this year but decided to replace a couple instead. I have had my lights for about 2 yrs. I think thats good value for the batteries.
