I have been working for a maintenence company for 4 years and had a verbal agreement as a mobile opperative I would give then half hour of my travel to the first job of the day and from the last job to home

For expample first job on site, starts at 8am so I leave home at 7am and would claim half hour.

I write this information on my time sheet every week, and a few people check my timesheet with job sheets and tracker on my van.

However, now they say I can not claim any travel. Can they do this change?

Go back to your employer is mention that after 4 years, you consider that this is an implied term of your contract. Should get HR scratching their heads.
If so, it can still be changed, but only after consultation with you, and only after giving you notice of the change.
After 4 years it is now also custom and practice, explain this to you employer. As buildermate said they can still change this bout only after consultation. (BUT rest assured HR will know this BM)
The correct legal term for custom and practice IS that it has become an implied term, Chaffinch. We are saying the same thing.

thank you both for answering both been very helpful

Buildersmate- could you tell me what you mean when you said "it can still be changed, but only after consultation with you, and only after giving you notice of the change"

Does it have to be Verbal? or In Writing?

Also does it have to be a certain time before this new arrangement begins or can they do it straight away?
