Does anyone have any Rubik's Cube techniques or strategies?

We've always had a Rubik's Cube around the house but I've never really ever solved the thing. I've looked at a couple of websites but they all seem to be over the top with theories on solving it. I always sort of assumed there was a simple enough way to solve it, you just had to break the code or whatever.

Has anyone here ever solved one and does anyone have any techniques to share?

I used to complete them regularly when I was at school many years ago but wouldn't have a clue now how I did it! My sister never managed it and I used to really wind her up. I was looking for presents online before Christmas and saw one. I think I might have to get one now just to see if the 42 year old brain cells are still up for the challenge!

Apparantly you can solve any 'scramble' in about 20 moves, or it might be less!

Simple, pick the sticky back colour squares off to re-arrange the colours on the cube.

Take it apart and re-assemble (as I used to do back in the day).

In the eighties I could do this in under a minute! forgotten all about how to do it now!

There used to be a book you could get to help solve it?

my daughter can do it in seconds, I cannot. She had the patience to learn how - apparently it's the same solution every time, something to do with solving in layers.

i had a book and still couldnt do it.
Made mistake of buying one for little CRX at xmas (he could do a side) and now have it half done. I keep picking it up, playing for a bit and putting down again.

that's freaky i nearly solved a rubiks cube in my dream last night... i had two rows that i couldn;t do - which doesn;t make much sense but it was a dream :-)

ive looked and looked on how to solve them. go to youtube and type it in, there is a video showing you codes on what to do and i can say it works!!!

I've got a Rubik's cube with a Sudoku puzzle on each face and it drives me up the wall!!!!

Thanks whick but it's a bit early in the day for that sort of carry on. I think with practice I could get the first 2 layers okay and then the top edges but it's the final 4 corners that are getting me stumped.
