childrens' books - for 5 year olds
8 Answers
Does anyone know the title of any really good childrens' book - to read to a class of 5 year olds and hold their attention. A book that we can then lead on to an activity to do with the children.
I just cant seem to find what I want - any good ideas ?

I'm not sure what activity it could lead to though.

I was going to say dogger!
The other one I used to love was The Very Hungry Catapiller! (Although I clearly can't spell it).
Either could lead to an activity. They could discuss a time when they did an unselfish act to help someone for dogger and the big hungry caterpilla (nope, that's not how you spell it either then) could lead to a little science discussion/project.

My kids loved Guy Bass's books - the dinkin dings series - when they were younger - he does a series for the 5 + age group too. We also met him at a book festival and was a really great bloke. I'd have a look at the Gormley Ruckles books:
