I'm trying to find a pic of a painting I saw a while ago. It was of a woman, I think she was a sorceress, and I think she had a snake as a belt. It was very similar in feeling to The Magic Circle by John William Waterhouse but the woman is in the centre of the painting and facing forwards.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Right style Calibax but she's standing in the one i'm thinking of.
A Medea painting perhaps? If it's Waterhouse, google for instance The Love Philtre. Here's a study where's she's standing http://i52.tinypic.com/53vb4p.jpg

Hmm you might be onto something as the one I'm thinking of has the same look about her as Sandys Medea. I looked at all the Medeas I could find but still no cigar I'm afraid.
Lilith by John Collier ?

Afraid not ricky1000. Good suggestion though, what with the snake and all.

In the painting the sorcereress/witch is fully clothed. It is almost like the figure in 'The Magic Circle' has simply turned to face the artist and her belt/sash has turned into a snake.

It's driving me mad now, I'm beginning to think I'e dreamt it up!
I am posting this,but I don't think it's the one you want!
