Nail-biting

How common is nail-biting in the UK? Is the frequency the same for men and women? Is the frequency the same in other countries in Europe, or in other societies? How about the similar, but to me totally diferent habit of pulling the skin from the side of the nails?

Well I can tell you that i bite my nails and also do the skin thing too. So do most of my male friends. My female friends find it disgusting and many a day were spent at uni freaking them out. However they did admit to me that they do do it but they do it in private rather than in the kitchen. I think everyone has a nibble now and again! just some dont admit to it.
