Seems to me to be an anagram of as in + on (i.e. on the way to getting drunk, half-cut).

mmm not quite up to his usual exactitude if that's right Mike. Thanks
I don't know. Nasion is defined as the mid point of a suture. Sewn up suggests an anagram, as above. One of the definitions of ON in Chambers is preparatory to getting drunk, for which a synonym is half-cut, so it all seems to fit for me.
Question Author
Do you think sewn up suggests an anagram or one thing inside another and reversed?
I think anagram. One of the definitions of sew up in Chambers is to nonplus (also to make drunk, which may or not be an allusion to half-cut).
Question Author
Ok then I am satisfied now. I hadn't come across the definition of sew up as nonplus or make drunk. Thank you for your attention.I'm obliged as they used to say in Westerns
Missin' ya already, now! :-)
