stain on dress

brought a new black dress to wear tommorow night to a party when i got it out of the wardrobe i noticed a stain on the front similar to a deodorant mark, how can I get rid of the mark without having to wash the dress?

Is it a fabric which you can just sponge carefully?

yes think i probably could box not sure whether to use plain water of some sort of soap as well

As it's black, I'd just use water and scrub it gently with a flannel, unless you have something very mild like Amway LOC which will all wash out.

As above but I would dry it with a hairdryer on a low heat setting to prevent the dress getting a water stain when it dries
