Have you ever known or worse still worked with a complete know-all? Someone who constantly interrupts you, answers before you have a chance to, and answeers other people's question even though they are not directed at them!? It is driving me bonkers. . What's a polite way to ask them not to do this . .
Oh yes, a familiar tale - the office know it all!
They often dont realise they do it, be polite but tell them that it annoys you. In a discussion everyone should get a say!
Ignore them.
Tell them to keep their pie hole shut for a few moments.
Or, when they speak just look at them in a way that says, if I hear another thing come out of your mouth I am going to stab you with my pen, then staple you to the roof.
I advise not to take so long to formulate your response to questions regarding work so that answers can be given quickly and precisely as idle chitter chatter/stupid questions that can be answered quickly without debate are quite annoying to someone who works quickly, quietly and efficiently. It drives me up the wall when someone asks/moans about an apect of their job that isn't up for debate and the time spent bitching or asking endless questions about better ways to do it could have been spent actually doing the flaming job that was asked of them!
I should probably add I'm quite well liked in my office... I just don't like stupid questions/debates/whinging etc... Just get on with it!
And breath.... I sound really horrible now, ah well! ;0)
Ha, love your replies. . If someone comes to me and asks me a question, this person immeditely speaks and shouts back . . So at least I can boast at being brilliant at ventriloquism :) it's driving me to distraction.
god i could of wrote that myself lol... a woman i work with is exactly the same i dont even get chance to finish what im saying before she buts in and takes over... if im talking about something thats worrying me she will but in and start talking about one of her relatives who is haveing problems or summit ... i told her to wait till ive finished saying what im saying or i'll lose my thread.. so flaming annoying its so so rude to but in
I used to be like this, then a few times people did it back to me and I realised how bl**dy annoying it is, so I make a concerted effort not to do it any more... so I suggest playing them at their own game :)
yep, I work with someone like that, she's a lovey woman but sometimes grates on me. Yesterday my colleague came over and said to me can you ring these people up... and woman was next to me and said 'yep I can do that' and snatched numbers away then had the nerve to say 'Oh I was going to do this but now I've got this to do'. She also took a letter from me that I'd been asked to do by boss and when she'd done it she gave it to boss to sign who said it was all wrong and she had to do it again. Had to go out room to laugh
