After being swizzed by the cash machine I have now been informed that I will not be reimbursed the £20 that it kept from my withdrawal. What would you do, contact the owners of the shop where the machine is, the company that maintains the machine or the bank that the machine is linked to? I know other people that have had trouble with the same machine. Thanks

A formal complaint in writing (not e-mail or even less phone) to your own bank.

Hi dzug2, they are the ones telling me that the company who maintains the machine have investigated and that there has been no error (and so will not reimburse me).
You need to persist - get a deadlock letter and take it to the Ombudsman if necessary.

Yourcontractual relationship with the other parties is non existent or at best indirect.

Hi dzug2, I not prepared to let it drop as not so long ago the loss of £20 would have had me in tears (money was very tight) and whilst things have improved considerably it is the principle of the thing. As I said earlier, I personally know of two other people that it has happened to so there is either something wrong with the machine or someone is pulling a fast one.
Tell them you want your money back, or you will name and shame them on the world's best website.......The Answerbank! That should make any company shake in their shoes!

Hi jonnyboy - a lot of people around here are on really tight budgets and £20 is a lot of money to lose but wouldn't dream of really, REALLY complaining. I have got time on my hands and need a creative outlet for the things that annoy me so I am going to take this further. I don't necessarily want the money back, just want the machine sorted out. If someone else got my money by mistake, good for them, but it does need sorted all the same.
Hello, I once had this problem... you have to write to the bank that it is linked to from memory (I got reimbursed). Good luck :)
