Last year I gave my car to my eldest g/son when he graduated from veterinary college (so he is the legal owner) he is now buying another car which has a delivery delay of about 3 months. When he gets his new car I am having my old one back. I have been looking on the web to suss out insurance again & every quote requires me to state the lic plate No of the car (which of course doesn't belong to me & can be checked through records at D.V.L.A.) Do I have to therefore wait until I am the registered owner before I can insure it ? Ron.

You can still get a quote for the insurance. Most of them ask you when you bought the car and usually have an option to tick that says 'not purchased yet'.
